Ninh Binh is a peaceful destination in northern Vietnam, located about 2 hours from Hanoi. The province is known for its limestone mountains, winding rivers and quiet rural villages. Many people describe it as a softer, calmer version of the north, with scenery that feels natural and untouched.
The area carries a long history.
Hoa Lu was the first capital of Vietnam during the 10th century and you can still see temples and old structures that remind visitors of this important period. Nature also plays a big part in Ninh Binh’s charm. The rivers curve through rice fields and caves and the mountains rise sharply from the flat landscape.
Because everything sits close together, a Ninh Binh city tour is an easy way to explore the highlights in one day. You do not need to rush from place to place. The pace here is slow and welcoming and locals are used to meeting travelers from many parts of the world.
We keep this Ninh Binh city tour simple and clear so you know exactly what is covered during your day with us.

Everything is arranged so you can simply relax and enjoy Ninh Binh.
Your Ninh Binh city tour follows a smooth and easy route, giving you time to enjoy each stop without rushing. Below is what you will experience during the day.
At around 10:00 AM you will explore Hoa Lu, the former capital of Vietnam. The temple of King Dinh sits among tall limestone mountains and peaceful courtyards. This area carries a lot of history and offers a quiet start to your journey through Ninh Binh.

From 11:15 AM to 12:30 PM you will visit Mua Cave and begin the climb up Mua Mountain. The stone steps lead you to Ngoa Long Peak, a spot known for its wide views of the rice fields and river below.

Along the way you may see goats on the cliffs or small orchids growing between the rocks. The viewpoint lets you see the Tam Coc area and the mountains of Trang An from above.
At 1:00 PM you will enjoy a Vietnamese meal prepared with local ingredients. This is a relaxing break before the afternoon activities.
At 2:30 PM you will join a sampan boat ride rowed by local people. The boat moves quietly along the Ngo Dong River and passes through three river caves called Ca Cave, Hai Cave and Ba Cave. Ca Cave is the longest, stretching 127 meters under a large mountain.

The scenery around the river is calm and makes this part of the day very enjoyable.
Around 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM you will return to the bus and begin the ride back to Hanoi. By 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM we will drop you off at your accommodation. Your trip ends here.
Ninh Binh has different charms throughout the year, but some seasons offer more comfortable weather and clearer views for your Ninh Binh city tour.
The days are warm and the fields are bright green. The air feels fresh and the boat ride in Tam Coc is very pleasant. This season is also good for the climb at Hang Mua since the visibility is usually clear.

The weather becomes cooler and the air is usually clear. Rice fields often turn golden during this period, which makes the views from Ngoa Long Peak even more beautiful. This is also a great time for photos.
Heavy rain and storms from July to August can affect hiking conditions and make the boat ride less comfortable. It is usually better to choose a dry season for a smoother experience.
For any season, we always recommend:
Yes. A Ninh Binh city tour gives you a full day of calm nature, river views and important cultural sites. It is a nice break from Hanoi and fits well into most travel plans.
A one day tour usually lasts around 10 to 11 hours. Pick up is in the morning and drop off is in the early evening, giving you enough time to explore each stop without rushing.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and light clothing. The steps can feel steep, so shoes with good grip are helpful. Bring a hat and sunscreen on sunny days and a small bottle of water for the climb.
Tam Coc offers a peaceful boat ride through rice fields and small caves. Trang An has more caves and a longer route. Both are beautiful, but Tam Coc fits well with this day tour because it is close to Hang Mua and Hoa Lu.
